Grandmother's Buttermilk Biscuits

The secret to perfect biscuits is cold butter and a gentle hand. Never overwork the dough.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons cold butter
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Instructions:

Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk and stir just until combined.

Turn onto a floured surface and pat gently to 3/4 inch thickness. Cut with a biscuit cutter and bake at 450°F for 12-15 minutes.
